The EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES is an initiative of the Council of Europe and it has been celebrated every year since 2001 on 26th September.
Twenty students from the five Elos schools in the basque Country, IES Aniturri BHI(Agurain), IES Botikazar BHI (Bilbao), IES Antigua Luberri BHI (Donostia), IES Ekialdea (Vitoria-Gasteiz) and IES Urola BHI (Azkoitia-Azpeitia) took part in an event called Elos World Café on the premises of the Basque Government in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Four students from each school were selected and some previous sessions took place at school to prepare the event: four round tables to talk and share their views on Europe.
- 1st table: General Topics about Europe
- 2nd table: Europe in your Life
- 3rd table: European Activities at your School
- 4th table: your Future in Europe
On the 26th September the five schools met in Lakua and our students, who had never met before, discussed on issues concerning Europe and their role as students and citizens of the EU. There were five students at each table (one representative from every school) and a teacher from each school was assigned to moderate and take notes of the comments made by students. After some minutes of discussion students swapped groups.
The experience was really rich and encouraging for future editions.
